Software company Zensar Technologies has rolled out work from anywhere (WFA) for its India based employees. As a part of the initiative, the company has recruited more than 500 associates out of which about 200 are already deployed in projects and others are undergoing training.
The current batches of recruits hail from cities like Indore, Jabalpur, Jammu, Vizag, Shimla, Patna, Guntur, Chandigarh, Kolkata, Bengaluru, Pune, Hyderabad, among others and all these employees are going to be permanently performing their job roles in the WFA mode.
Under the initiative, the proportion of women employees is 70 per cent and the company has tied up with vendors to hire PwD (Persons with Disabilities) employees in the upcoming batches.
According to Vivek Ranjan, CHRO , Zensar Technologies, the programme has a rating of 4.5/5 in terms of the overall experience.
“We collected feedback at various stages. Our digital platforms and optimum batch sizes allowed us to conduct multiple quick pulse surveys, hence allowing us to tweak the programme design as per the employee and business requirements. The new recruits are inducted via Zensar’s proprietary digital HR platform, called Talent@Zensar,” he said.
The application serves as the one single platform that facilitates onboarding, leadership connect, leave management, corporate information, company policies etc.
“One of the highlights of this model is that senior leaders from Zensar directly speak with the associates as well as their families. Special sessions are held for families to address their queries on this model, and the company and related matters,” Ranjan said.
Speaking on the impact of WFA culture on organisational productivity, Ranjan said the initiative has led to better work-life integration for our employees as no time is spent on long commutes, thus having a positive impact on their wellbeing.
“Employees are focussing on their wellbeing and anytime self-paced virtual learning. Our employees are effectively leveraging the experience platforms for career conversations, learning and engagement. Overall, this model of work allows flexibility so employees are more engaged, motivated and energised to be more productive,” he added.
He further said that the supply pool has also increased hence allowing the company to hire at speed and scale.
“This is impacting organisational productivity positively,” Ranjan said.
Zensar Technologies has over 9,000 associates globally - almost all working in WFA mode, since March 2020, and a significant number will continue to do so even post-pandemic.
