Leading UN Health and Development
Agency Transforms Scattered
Regional Knowledge into a Unified,
AI-Powered Knowledge
Management Platform
Key highlights
Agile delivery
Delivered using an Agile development methodology with iterative, feedback-driven rollout
~$0.2M engagement
A focused, consulting-led engagement scoped and delivered within the client's broader digital transformation partnership
5+ team members
A compact, dedicated gen AI-led team designed, built, and rolled out the platform.
Summary
The client partnered with Zensar to replace scattered regional knowledge assets with a single, governed, AI-powered knowledge management (KM) platform. Using a 4D model connecting people, process, and technology, the team built a centralized, Google Cloud-based repository with AI-powered search and chat, automated categorization, and structured change management, consolidating knowledge, improving data quality, and giving users one place to search everything.
Client overview
Long-standing digital transformation partnership powering global health and development
The client is a worldwide agency focused on global health and development, working to end preventable maternal deaths, expand access to family planning and reproductive health services, lead campaigns for gender equality, and support youth empowerment and the use of population data for national development policies.
Zensar has been engaged with the client since 2023, delivering application development, managed services, and digital transformation initiatives. The team developed and continues to support the client's core application ecosystem, managing 6+ applications with integrations to Oracle Cloud ERP (finance and HR), providing L2 and L3 support, and delivering fixed-bid, end-to-end solutions, including global directory, IPAS, and IBA. A dedicated gen AI team drives innovation, including the KM Portal, delivered through a hybrid on-site/offshore agile delivery model.
Challenges
Scattered, inconsistent KM across a global organization
Knowledge assets were scattered across departments and geographies, creating silos that hindered timely access to data.
Existing search tools were inadequate, returning irrelevant results and lacking advanced capabilities such as semantic search.
Every region followed its own approach to knowledge management, which added complexity given the client's unique global structure.
The client needed a platform tailored to its unique structure and information flows, not a generic off-the-shelf tool.
Solutions
Implementing an AI-powered knowledge management platform
The team applied a 4D model that connects people, process, and technology. Stakeholder interviews shaped a business-process workflow and a centralized repository with tiered storage strategies. The team finalized a governed taxonomy, a knowledge-governance workflow, and a Google Cloud-based solution architecture, then deployed AI-powered search and chat integrated with Google Drive, Cloud Storage, and BigQuery, with automated metadata via AODocs.
The platform was rolled out with structured change management, training, and continuous improvement based on user feedback.
