Netflorist ECommerce Whitepaper

The forecast for online retailing continues to be strong with global e-commerce sales now contributing to nearly 8% of the total retail revenues. A Forrester study “State of Retailing Online 2014: Key initiatives & metrics” indicates a 29% web growth on an average in 2013 and the year 2014 promises to be even better. The year 2014 will see global B2C e-commerce sales reach US$ 1.5trillion with a strong forecast from emerging countries. The web has already started to influence almost 51% of all purchases and 35% of online traffic is being generated by mobile devices. Growth in the e-commerce space is primarily attributed to the increase in internet penetration, expanding online and mobile user bases in emerging markets, and the surge in demand for digital goods, increasingly advanced shipping and payment options, and the push into new international markets by major brands. Some of the key factors indicated by the Forrester study that will continue to shape the future of e-commerce in 2014 will be sameday delivery options and the increasing adoption of mobile technologies in the e-commerce space.
