Satellite centres to retain talent: Zensar

Pune: City-based tech firm Zensar Technologies is looking to set up satellite centres at places closer to its talent hubs, as well as focusing on new and organic hirings, to stay ahead in the talent recruitment race in the IT and ITeS segment amid high attrition rate, company’s CEO and managing director Ajay S Bhutoria has said.
“Over the last 12 months, we have had an attrition rate of around 27%. The tech talent market right now is extremely demand-rich, and extremely supply-deficient, and wages are constantly going up. The cost of lateral hiring is also high, and we gave our employees an unprecedented two hikes last year. To remedy the situation, we are setting up satellite centres at places closer to our talent hubs, and not just at our three Indian centres at Pune, Bengaluru, and Hyderabad, where employees can come to work, collaborate, or simply engage with each other, and they need not move to one of our three large facilities. We are also focusing on building up organic talent, fresh from colleges, and we have a dedicated team looking into it,” Bhutoria told TOI during his maiden visit to the Pune headquarters since his appointment in January last year.
He is based in north-eastern US, with that country also being one of Zensar’s core markets, alongside the UK, Europe, and South Africa.
Despite the firm having its headquarters in India, and being owned by Harsh Goenka’s RPG Group, Zensar currently has no business interests in India.
“The decision to exit the Indian market was taken a few years back, as well as from other markets. We are watching the Indian market again very closely, and we will decide whether to return,” Bhutoria said.
